The things I associate most with the fall are mellow golden light, crisp days scented with woodsmoke, and the crisp McIntosh apples. I love apples, as far as I remember, apples were one of my favourite fruits. September is the peak of apple season, and I ’m thinking of making a whole bunch of things to cherish their versatility, starting with apple chips.

As the leaves on our street are definitely turning yellow, the temperatures are ACTUALLY dropping this weekend and you can taste a little warm, earthy notes pumpkin spice in the air, you’ll want to get in the fall spirit. Right ? And where better to do that than a pumpkin spiced kitchen.
The thing is, my mother and father are coming over today and I’m feeling the need to get rid some of dust bunnies from existence. There is something wonderful about individualizing desserts in general and cinnamon spiced apple slices drizzled with homemade salted caramel and loaded between two pieces of fried pie dough makes no exception. The idea of individualizing pies makes an elegant twist on the classic apple pie, plus there is no need for knives, plates, or forks, sounds just great to me. Since, I am legitimately addicted – salted caramel combination of “salty and sweet” is one of my favorite things in the world.

This is a quick and easy to make moist cake with blueberries and a light cinnamon sugar streusel topping and works perfectly fine with fresh OR frozen blueberries, making it an any-season winner.
