There is nothing quite like that warm apple filling, beautiful golden brown crust that magically bakes around it, and creamy scoop of ice cream on top.

4 steps to Easy Apple Cobbler:

Melt butter: in a 9×13 (preferably glass) baking dish. Do this by placing it in the oven while it preheats.

Make the batter: In a large bowl mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the milk and melted butter, just until combined. Pour into dish.

Canned Apple Filling or Make the Apple Filling: Stir together water, brown sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a large saucepan. Stir in apples. Cook over medium heat for 3-5 minutes. Spoon in apples or your fruit of choice in random spots. Sprinkle it lightly with cinnamon and it’s ready to bake!

Bake: at 350 degrees for about 40-45 minutes. Serve warm, with a scoop of ice cream, if desired.

Easy Apple Cobbler

This Easy Apple Cobbler is one of my FAVORITE fall desserts. It’s made with fresh apples or canned apple pie filling, and a few basic pantry ingredients.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter cubes

for the canned Apple Filling Option

  • 1 can apple pie filling cherry, peach, blueberry

for the homemade Apple Filling Option

  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 3-4 medium apples peeled, cored, and diced into chunks ¼ inch thick
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp water
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 Tbsp + 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 Tbsp water

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter in a 9x13 (preferably glass) baking dish. Do this by placing it in the oven while it preheats.
  • Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Pour in milk and vanilla and stir to combine.
  • Pour the batter mixture into the baking dish over the butter. Do not mix with butter. Spoon in apples or your fruit of choice in random spots.
  • Bake for 45 minutes. The crust will rise around apples.
  • Allow to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, if desired. Cover and store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Homemade Apple Filling

  • In a medium size pan, melt butter, add apples, spices, brown sugar, and 3 Tablespoons of water. Cook over medium-high heat, for 4-6 minutes or until apples are very slightly softened.
  • In a small dish combine cornstarch and 2 Tablespoons water. Add to pan while stirring and continue to cook until apples are tender, and filling is thickened, about 4-5 minutes. Cool.
